School Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Programme

Little Hands Go Green's School WASH Programme empowers children to become agents of change in promoting clean and healthy environments in their schools, homes and communities. Through our comprehensive approach to Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) education, we equip schools with the knowledge and resources needed to ensure the well-being of students and the surrounding community. Our school WASH programme includes interactive awareness trainings on WASH, focusing on promoting proper hygiene practices and sanitation behaviors among school children. Through engaging workshops and activities, we educate students on the importance of hand washing, personal hygiene, and safe water practices, empowering them to adopt healthy habits that contribute to their overall well-being.

1. Girl and Disadvantaged Children Rights

Uganda Little Hands Go Green (ULHG)’s WASH programme has a health component which is committed to promoting the well-being and rights of girls and disadvantaged children. ULHG focuses on creating awareness about the rights of these vulnerable groups. We regularly organize health and counseling sessions where volunteers from various sectors collaborate with us to engage with girls and disadvantaged children, ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs are addressed. These counselling sessions cover crucial topics such as reproductive health, teenage pregnancy, HIV awareness, and female genital mutilation. Through these interactive and informative talks, we aim to empower girls and disadvantaged children with the knowledge and confidence to understand and assert their rights.

2. Solid Waste Management

The WASH programme also has a Solid Waste Management component aimed at maintaining a clean and sustainable environment. This programme prioritizes solid waste management education, offering trainings that cover various aspects such as waste segregation, recycling, composting, and waste reduction strategies. We also provide schools with waste bins designed for different types of waste, facilitating proper segregation and management. Through hands-on demonstrations and practical activities, children learn how to minimize waste generation and promote recycling initiatives within their school and community.
