World Environment Day 2023 – Beat Plastic Pollution

World Environment Day is observed and celebrated annually on 5th June. It encourages awareness and action for the protection of the environment. The theme for 2023 focused on solutions to plastic pollution under the campaign “Beat Plastic Pollution”. World Environment Day is also a reminder that we must work together, support one another, and build an environment that reflects our collective aspirations for a green future.

At Little Hands Go Green, we believe that for our children to truly thrive, we must stop damaging the Earth’s environment, otherwise, we will leave future generations with a radically altered climate, broken ecosystems, and vanishing natural resources.

Little Hands Go Green joined in the global efforts to #BeatPlasticPollution, together with Mbuya Parents School, a pre-primary and primary school. Our team delivered waste bins to the school to help with collection of waste including the plastic wastes.

Additionally, we carried out awareness campaigns on the ongoing theme for the day, “Beat Plastic Pollution”, and got a chance to interact with the pupils who shared their perspectives on the state of the earth, and the different ways we can protect and save our environment.

Erica Nadamba, a pupil and Go Green Ambassador had this to say: “I encourage people out there to plant trees because if we dont, right now, never shall we. There is no other planet we are going to live on. It is only one, and we have to protect it.”

Kimwanga Andrew, another pupil and Go Green Ambassador said; “I’m encouraging the world to save the earth now, because time is running out. People are destroying our world. This is the only planet we can live on, so please people, I’m advising you to save our planet. Preserve it for the future generation.”

Below are some of the moments from the World Environment Day 2023 celebration at Mbuya Parents School.
