On Saturday 13th November, over 100 schools congregated at KCCA City Hall to partake in the Children’s Climate Change March 2023, uniting in pursuit of a sustainable future while nurturing the environment.
The Climate Change March was flagged off by the Deputy Speaker of parliament, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa. Participants walked for two kilometres (2km) around Kampala, starting off from KCCA City Hall gardens in show of solidarity for environmental protection, and seeking to raise awareness about the changing environment which is also affecting our climate.
“I’m really glad that you started on the journey to protect nature. Because if we don’t protect the environment then it won’t be there to protect us, and it hits back badly,” remarked Hon. Thomas Tayebwa as he flagged off the Children’s Climate Change March.
The event organized by Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green also attracted a diverse array of individuals and entities, including the Minister For Kampala Capital City & Metropolitan Affairs, Hon. Minsa Kabanda, and joined by Hon. Balimwezo Ronald, the Nakawa East legislator. The minister applauded Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green for keenly taking on the activity of ensuring we have a clean and green environment.
The Climate Change march was not only a call to action but also a celebration, featuring entertainment from renowned musician Daxx Cartel. The children from various schools also showcased their talents through special performances, including poems, dancing, and singing.
We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who joined the Children’s Climate Change March and showed strong commitment to a healthier future for our children. Here is a recap featuring activities from the event.
